Nollywood actress Ini Edo has shared a touching tribute following the successful burial of her late father, Elder Edo Jonathan Ekim, in his hometown of Akwa Ibom.
The movie star, who announced her father’s passing in February, laid him to rest on Friday in a solemn ceremony attended by family, friends, and colleagues. Among those present were notable Nollywood figures such as Rita Dominic, Ruth Kadiri, Nancy Isime, Uche Jombo, Desmond Elliot, and IK Ogbonna.
In an emotional Instagram post, Ini Edo honored her father’s memory, describing him as a devoted man of faith, a lover of life, and the life of every gathering. She extended deep appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State government, particularly Governor Umo Eno and Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, for their support during the difficult period.
"By God’s grace, we gave our father a farewell worthy of a man who walked with God, cherished life, and brought joy to others," she wrote.
The actress also thanked her colleagues and friends for standing by her despite their demanding schedules and the current economic climate, acknowledging that their presence gave her strength.
Reflecting on her family’s journey since her father’s passing in December, Ini Edo praised their unity and resilience, crediting their strong upbringing rooted in love, faith, and togetherness.
"Losing Daddy tested us spiritually, physically, and financially—but we stood strong. I’m proud of us, and I know we made him proud," she shared.
